    In the last five months we have witnessed the election of a President whose powers had been largely voided by a Constitutional Declaration of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), then the subjugation by President Morsi of the Egyptian military establishment, from which he has inherited unprecedented executive and legislative powers, his outstanding success on the international scene as a mediator in the last Gaza crisis, his Constitutional Declaration intended to put him above the reach of the Judiciary, and finally (for the time being!) the very hurried approval of the draft of the new Constitution, which will be put to a referendum within the very short period of fifteen days.
