What kind of data do we collect?
In compliance with EU Regulation 679/2016 concerning the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data when using our services, you hereby accept that we collect some personal data. This page is aimed at providing information about the data we collect and how we use it.
We process two different kinds of data:
– Data provided by users
– Automatically collected data
DATA PROVIDED BY USERS
When you register we ask you to provide data needed to allow you to make use of our services.
The sort of data requested, set out here as an example, but not as a fully comprehensive list, includes:
– Name and surname
– Email address
AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED DATA
We collect the following data through the services used:
– Technical data: for example your IP address, the kind of browser used, information about your computer, data concerning your current (approximate) location;

1. How do we use the data collected?
We use the data collected to provide you with our services and to keep you updated about our activities.
1.1. TO GUARANTEE YOU ACCESS TO OUR SERVICES AND IMPROVE THEM
We use your data in order to guarantee access to our services and so as to provide them; these include:
– Registering for events and our newsletter
– Communications linked to the delivery of our services
– Administrative, financial or accounting activities,
Processing data is necessary to accurately provide Reset Dialogues on Civilizations’ services to users requesting them.
Processing is based on the website owner’s legitimate interest and you can oppose such use at any time (see in particular points 3 and 4).
1.2. FOR ALL INFORMATION CONCERNING OUR ACTIVITIES
Once you have specifically given your consent, we use the data collected to inform you about any activities that may be of interest to you.
In particular, the data is used to:
– Send you information concerning our activities;
– Send information concerning our Summer School;
– Send you our research papers and digital publications free of charge;
– Communicate news concerning Reset Dialogues on Civilisations events, initiatives or partnerships using email or social network accounts;
– Improve Reset’s communications with users through analysis and reports linked to communications systems such as, for example, checking the number of emails opened, the clicks on links sent in emails, the type of devices used to read such communications and the kind of browser used or lists of those who have chosen to unsubscribe to our newsletter.
2. Is the provision of data compulsory?
Provision of personal data is compulsory only for the processing needed to render the services provided by Reset (any eventual refusal to provide such data needed to render the services requested, would make it impossible to use our services);

3.3. ENTITIES TO WHOM PERSONAL DATA CAN BE COMMUNICATED
The data collected within the framework of providing our services can be shared with companies that work in a manner strictly linked to an essential for the technical functioning of services provided by Reset
– Administrative bodies and authorities in compliance with legal obligations
– In no case is personal data sold to third parties.
4. How can one receive information concerning data, changing it, deleting it or receive a copy of it?
4.1. Access TO PERSONAL data and opting out
By using the link sent in all our emails, users registered to receive our newsletter can verify or change data in our possession, as well as revoke consent previously provided.
4.2. TAKEOUT AND DELETION OF PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING
In order to export your personal data (takeout) or request it be deleted, you can send a request by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your personal data will be taken out within 30 days of Reset receiving the request, or should such an operation prove to be particularly complex, within three months.
Deletion will be carried out within the technical time envisaged and in compliance with the period of record keeping set out below.
4.3. EXERCISING YOUR RIGHTS
Any natural person using our services has the right to:
– Obtain at any time from the owner, all information concerning the existence of their own personal data, its origin, the objectives and methods used for its processing and, when available, obtain access to personal data and information as set out in Article 15 of the GDPR;
– Request that personal data be updated, rectified, integrated, deleted or its processing be restricted in the event the user should resort to one of the conditions set out in Article 18 of the GDPR, that their personal data be transformed into an anonymous form or blocked, not processed in violation of any laws, including those according to which data does not need to be kept for reasons for which it was collected and/or later processed;
– Oppose for legitimate reasons, in its entirety or partially, the processing of personal data, even when pertinent to the reasons for which it has been collected and processed, for any commercial reasons or the provision of advertising or sale for market research or commercial communication. All users also have the right to revoke consent at any moment without prejudice for the legality of processing based on consent provided before it is revoked;
– Readily receive personal data provided consciously and actively or by using services in an organized format, commonly used and readable on automatic devices and having them transferred to another owner of processed data;
– Present a complaint to the Guaranteeing Authorities for the protection of personal data in Italy.
5. How will your data be stored and for how long?
Personal data will be preserved in paper and/or digital form and only for the time strictly needed to comply with the objectives established while respecting the user’s privacy and in compliance with current law.
For all objectives aimed at the direct analysis of developing and improving the service, users’ personal data can be subject to the same period of preservation.
For profiling objectives, we preserve your data for as long as allowed by the applicable law.
Invoices, accounting documentation, and data concerning transactions are kept for eleven years in compliance with the law and fiscal obligations.
In cases in which users exercise the right to be forgotten by specifically requesting the deletion of personal data processed by the owner, one must bear in mind that such data will be preserved in a protected manner with limited access and only for the verification and repression of crimes, for no longer than 12 months from the date of the request and will then be deleted in a safe manner or rendered irreversibly anonymous.
6. How do we guarantee the protection of your data?
According to the rules of the law referred to here, and with particular reference to security measures envisaged by Article 32 of the GDPR, collected data is subject to processing through IT, manual and automated means and following guidelines strictly linked to the objectives established and always in a manner guaranteeing the safety and privacy of such data.
Respecting the regulations applied here, an anti-spam verification system is active on all communications between users. Data provided can be verified only in order to identify any illegal activity but such data will not be processed or shared for commercial or promotional reasons.
7. Summer School Candidatures
The owner of the data processing system makes available an online form on the website for every individual event in order to select candidates for the Summer School.
Curricula and documentation received for specific selections will be kept for two years. Should a candidate receive a grant, such documentation will be preserved on the basis of all requirements established by law.
Candidates can oppose the processing of their personal data at any time by sending an email to email@example.com
All candidates must remember to add to their CVs a statement in which they agree to the processing of personal data for selection purposes and avoid mentioning any sensitive personal data, a such as health, religious, philosophical or political persuasions and any information not pertinent to our proposal.
8. Can privacy regulations undergo change over time?
These rules may be subject to change. Should significant changes be made by the owner in the use of data, then users must be advised through clear and easily available information published on the website or sent using alternative or similar means.
