    «Rome is a city where people are coming from everywhere.» So says the Neapolitan concierge Benedetta Esposito in my novel Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio. She was right. And it contradicts those who say: «Rome is becoming a multicultural city.» Rome has always been multicultural, as Europe has. But the arrival of immigrants in recent decades has brought new challenges: Are foreigners an asset or a threat? As a writer, I try to narrate the difficulties of misunderstandings in everyday life. Here are some examples to describe this city in permanent change.
