For Amr El Shobaki, a political analyst at the Al Ahram Centre for Strategic and Political Studies in Cairo, these elections were a period of intense activity, as he monitored the various stages of the elections, providing analyses, reports and interviews. All this he experienced with scepticism and with no expectations and the final result with the announced triumph of the majority party came as no surprise to him.
